Bamdad Bakhshi, Director, SubCom

Bamdad Bakhshi is director for the Department of Network and Transmission Testing at SubCom. Since May 2000, he has held several positions at the company, both within engineering and product line management. Dr. Bakhski’s responsibilities include leading laboratory and field transmission experiments for system design verification purposes, and leading the commissioning of subsea systems. He is also responsible for overseeing and aligning test processes across various sections of SubCom, ranging from research & development laboratories, manufacturing facilities to installation and system commissioning and acceptance.

Dr. Bakhski was born in Tehran, Iran on August 27, 1970. He holds an M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering and a Ph. D. degree in Physics from Chalmers University of Technology, Gothenburg, Sweden. For his doctoral dissertation, he studied erbium fiber ring lasers and their applications in ultrahigh speed optical-time-division-multiplexed (OTDM) soliton-based fiber-optic transmission systems. During his Ph. D. research, Dr. Bakhshi was involved in several world-record capacity OTDM field transmission experiments, as part of the European research program ACTS-MIDAS. He is an author or co-author of more than 60 peer-reviewed technical publications, and holds five issued and pending patents.
