Mei Du received her Ph.D from The University of Chicago studying femtosecond spectroscopy. She started her
telecommunication career in Optical Fiber Research Department, Lucent Bell labs where she has worked on
forward pumping distributed Raman amplification and high-speed transmission from 40Gb/s to 100Gb/s.
Her interests then shifted to bringing advanced technologies into real-world applications. She was involved in
deploying 40Gb/s and 100Gb/s in both terrestrial networks and subsea cables. Currently, her work focuses on
building new subsea cables and upgrading legacy cables in TATA Communications.
