Stuart Barnes is Chairman and Chief Strategy Officer of Xtera. He received a BSc (Engineering) and PhD from Queen Mary College, University of London and is Emeritus Professor of Electrical Engineering at Southampton University. He was Programme Chairman of SubOptic 2019 in New Orleans. Prior to Xtera he founded Ilotron and Azea Networks. Prior to that he was Technical Director of Submarine Systems. He has spent most of his 45-year career in submarine systems
